Studying at the Academy was a unique experience that has given me the confidence I need to pursue a career in sport anywhere in the world. I enjoyed being able to learn at my own pace and my own time and interacting with other students from around the world. I felt extremely supported and motivated by the distinguished faculty and could not have been more pleased with my decision to obtain my doctoral degree from the Academy.

I was attracted to the Academy because it was the only specialized graduate degree in sport that had a truly global focus. The faculty had experience teaching in other countries in the sports environment and the student body was also very diverse. In fact, my current international colleague in anti-doping, Dr. Patrick Goh, the CEO of the Singapore Anti-Doping Agency, graduated from the Academy the year before me.

I had earned a degree and did post grad in commerce, banking and law, but I always loved my sport. My Academy degree in sports management allowed me to marry my previous degrees to the passion I had for sport. The Academy was where I met like-minded people in a different environment. I really look back fondly on my time there and would love to come back and visit one day

The strength of the Academy is that it is an outward-looking institution that has done a great deal in terms of building bridges between disparate societies and ideologies. A key principle that I picked up from the Academy was the democratizing nature of distance learning and how it enfranchised non-traditional student populations. Subsequent to my graduation, online learning approaches have served to bring people together in their pursuit of sport-related knowledge and the Academy’s international outlook remains one of its biggest strengths

Returning to India after my graduation from the Academy I immediately had an advantage of being among the top qualified sports medicine consultants to set up practice there. The fields of sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery were virtually unknown in India at the time, and that allowed me to create a niche for myself as a pioneer in the field
